December 2008 Annual Apppeal Letter

Dear Friends,

With your support, Fred's Footsteps continues to make a significant impact in the lives of families with critically and chronically ill children.  They are our neighbors:  hard-working families, living in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.  They paid their bills, never asking for help, until their child suffered a serious illness or accident. This was the case with Katrine's family...

On a trip back from the playground last March, Katrine and her father were in a tragic car accident. Katrine suffered severe brain injury and had to learn to walk, talk, and eat again.  Her father was also seriously injured and missed many months of work.  Katrine's mother heroically juggled work and caring for her family.  But, it was not enough.   This hard-working, middle-class family was about to lose their house until Fred's Footsteps stepped in. With our financial assistance, the family concentrated on their physical and emotional recovery, without fear of losing their home.

These families depend on us during their time of need and we depend on you!

A donation of:

  • $50 can fill up the family's car with gas so that they can visit their premature baby in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
  • $100 can help with the family's groceries so that they can provide for their other children as well as the sick child.
  • $500 can cover the electric bills for a family with a child who needs a ventilator to breathe.
  • $1,000 can help pay the family's rent or mortgage, so that a parent can take time from work to sit with their child during chemotherapy- without the fear of losing their home.
  • $5,000 can renovate a bathroom to accommodate a child with a wheelchair.

We hope you will to give to a cause that is extremely important yet greatly under-funded.I invite you to visit our website, www.fredsfootsteps.org for more information. Also, please never hesitate to contact us directly with your questions or ideas.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and families, I thank you for your support, and wish you a Holiday Season filled with peace, good health and happiness!

                                                                                    Yours Truly,

                                                                                    Sylvia DiBona
